• Kouta is completely mute, only able to make vague sounds. He has no capacity for spoken language, and as such, uses a very rough version of Japanese Sign Language. It's recognizable for anyone who knows it, but because he's grown up in the slums, it's not accurate and can sometimes be hard to read.
  
  
• He's partnered (in the romantic sense) with Crow Hogan, and the two are very close. He takes care of Crow's kids as much as he can, and sees them in a similar way that Crow does. He also has a twin brother named Kazuki who was the one that took care of the both of them before Team Satisfaction picked them up (at which point Kouta was able to share his JSL and take a more active role in helping).
  
  
• He's very friendly and cheerful most of the time. While some of it is a facade to try to hide his feelings, he does try to really be that way as much as possible, but it can be extremely hard with their lives. Especially his, because it's extremely difficult to communicate without someone around to translate.
  
  
• His Duel Disk was upgraded by his brother to take sign language input and recite it in an artificial voice, so Kouta can still duel normally.
  
  
• He has prostituted himself before in desperation. He isn't proud of it, and it makes him very uncomfortable and depressed to think about.
